Ever wake up in one of those just really amazing moods and just know your day is going to be amazing? Then, you go somewhere and are forced to spend time with someone who is just really unhappy? We all have those days, right?
Let’s set the stage for this one. You went to bed early last night, had a great 8-hour sleep cycle, wake early, and just feel like bouncing all over the place with your new-found energy and happiness. You leave the house and head to work, singing along to all of your faves on the radio. You get to work and IT happens. Mr. Grumpy Pants is sitting in your office with a sour face. Oh, he is extra cranky today.

All of a sudden, you feel your face fall. You start to feel lethargic. You slump down in your desk behind your computer and log into your email. You feel your happiness and energy just falling away like a dream that once was.
Now what do you do? How do you maintain a good, positive outlook in such a negative environment? Can you tell Mr. Grumpy Pants to put on his big girl panties and just get over it? Doubt it.
I like how MelChi over on HubPages explains Mr. Grumpy Pants (Mr. GP going forward) types as brick walls. Isn’t that how we all feel once we walk into an environment where a Mr. GP is? It’s like we have just hit a brick wall in our happiness. MelChi calls them brick walls “because they are so stubborn and sometimes hurt like crazy when you run into them.”
However, no matter what, you have to deal with Mr. GP. Most likely Mr. GP is like this nearly every day. What do you do?
- Try to have a little understanding. You may not know everything going on in Mr. GP’s life. Maybe he just needs that positive person in his life and finds your positive energy refreshing (even if he never tells you so). Try a little understanding and empathy.
- If you cannot walk away because Mr. GP resides in your office, try to not react or argue with him. Mr. GP probably feeds off of someone who will complain or argue with him. DO NOT feed his negative energy or stoop to his level.
- Try starting a new conversation with Mr. GP when he complains. Throw something positive out there. Try to influence his negativity with your positive energy. Who says a positive person cannot be just as stubborn as a brick wall? Ha! Take that Mr. GP!
- Most importantly, keep smiling. A good mood and happiness can be just as infectious as negativity with enough persistence.
I had started this blog post quite a few months ago when I was dealing with a Mr. GP. I am now the influence in my office and try to maintain a happy and upbeat environment. You find you can get more done and more cooperation when you deal with people in a more positive manner. Thanks for listening to my rant🙂

Hi all! I am back again, finally! I have been a busy, busy girl. Work has kept me chained to my desk for about 50-60 hours a week and the kids, well, I doubt I need to say more there; but life is good regardless.
I decided to take my journey of nutrition and health more to the Paleo way of things. I had really fallen off the health wagon in a big way; so I had to do something drastic. Enter Whole30.

Wow y’all! I had not even realized I have not been on here since May! Far too long to be absent!
As the new year rolls in, many of us reflect over the last year and consider what we want to change in the year to come. I do not make New Year’s resolutions, so to speak, but I do consider what I want to do in the coming year. Normally, the result is the same as those making resolutions though. It just doesn’t stick or gets forgotten.

Hey all. Yes, it has been awhile. I haven’t forgotten my blogging duties, but merely have had to put them on hold. I am taking a quick break now from studying to give a brief update. Can I just say wow!
So, note one…when taking an extended break from school, it is wise to re-enter the virtual class environment with an exciting class. When your academic adviser says “your first class is Accounting in a Health Care Environment” and you get that little twinge that says “make her change it!”, listen!!! I do love furthering my education and growing intellectually; however, re-entry into school after a 6-month leave should involve a class with a much higher excitement level.
Note two…I am a HUGE procrastinator! I know this about myself and accountingis fueling my procrastination flaw like you wouldn’t believe! I started off great, worked ahead and was doing awesome! Then, I fell out with boredom. I like doing the accounting work, but studying theory is killing me! At this point, I am willing to let just about any excuse pop up and hold me back from studying until that day the school week closes out and everything is due (ie. I am blogging now instead of finishing those last 8-pages on budgeting).

Note three…Scheduling out my week has become a must! With school, the gym, work, kids, and my refusal to let go of all social activities, I must really start budgeting (see, I am picking up something from this class) my time wisely. I really need to sit down in the coming week and start looking out how to really fit everything in, including sleep (which I have not been getting enough of). I guess I will have to pencil in some time somewhere in my schedule for scheduling life.
Note four…Forget all this craziness about accounting, how about life! Wow! What a ride this month has been. I have been working to integrate into my new position at work. I am getting faster at my new tasks and have trained my junior on many of my old tasks. I am still learning much day by day and feel I am making progress. I am working to convert fully to my e-cigarette due to my joining a gym that makes me run every visit. Speaking of the gym, CrossFit is so totally cool y’all (I added a few links at the bottom that WordPress recommended). I cannot wait to have more time to fill y’all in on exactly what it is and what I have been learning. I think this week I get to meet with the owner (also a nutritionist) to go over my food plan and goals. I am totally excited. Other activities have included Spring Fling at my young one’s school, cook out and pool days with friends, fewer bar nights (but still there because you just got to have a nice drink and relax sometimes), and seeing a few friends I hadn’t in a bit. Life has just been crazy!
Hope everyone out there following is doing well and hope to catch up again soon! Guess life isn’t so idle anymore🙂

Ok. So very quick update as I still have a paper to write that’s due tonight. No, no, I swear I’m not a procrastinator! Well, maybe I am a little!
Started Crossfit boot camp tonight; and although I’m looking forward to going back tomorrow, I’m wondering if my body will feel the same come morning. Tonight was all about dead lifts and I swear everything involves squats. We used the weighted bar, kettle balls, and just for fun threw in some crazy medicine ball move. Sometime this week I will write up something on what Crossfit is for any of you who haven’t heard about it. For now, it’s time to write a kick butt paper. Have a good night all🙂
